Plenary and Intensive oral

In order to stimulate interactions between participants within and across the different fields of expertise, an innovative type of organisation has been designed:

  • Plenary sessions including a broad set of invited and selected lectures (30 minutes + discussion) covering the range of the diverse conference topics will be held in an auditorium offering participants an overview of the significant new developments in the different fields. The list of invited papers will be available on the website in January 2011.

  • Participants will be offered an innovative twist on the traditional conference poster presentations. Instead of posters a set of lounges will be used where small groups of participants will attend so-called parallel intensive oral sessions. Each of these sessions will involve three to four papers (15 minutes + discussion) presented by their authors under the guidance of a chairperson. Use will be made of large sized (A0) flat-screen monitors where PowerPoint compatible files can be displayed in an interactive way.

  • As the intensive oral sessions will run in parallel, there will be a chance for participants to attend presentations they have missed by registering their vote for 'Bonus' sessions in the conference voting system. These sessions will be programmed based on the demand registered by the voting system. Participants will also have the opportunity to view any of the presentations made at the conference at any time thanks to additional interactive monitors located at various places in the Conference Centre.
